19-12-2024

JEE Main 2025 January Session Exam will be organized from 22nd January 2025 – 31 January 2025, while the April session examination will be conducted from 1 April 2025-8th April 2025.

Now, with JEE Main 2025 knocking on the doors, it is a must for aspirants to update themselves with the latest exam pattern, syllabus, and any changes that have occurred for this year.

All this and much more that you would like to know about JEE Main 2025, we will help you in streaming your preparation thus giving a boost to your confidence

1. Understanding the JEE Main 2025 Exam Pattern

The JEE Main consists of two papers: Paper 1 for the B.E/ B.Tech courses, and Paper 2 for the B.Arch and B.Planning courses. Paper 1 has a much larger attendance than Paper 2. So let's keep it short.

JEE Main Paper 1 for B.E./B.Tech

  • Test is Computer-Based Test or in other words CBT
  • Test duration: 3 hours
  • Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics
  • Total Questions: 90; 30 each subject
  • Section A: 20 multiple choice types MCQs
  • Section B: 10 numerical value questions of which only 5 have to be answered
  • Marking Scheme:

– MCQs: +4 for correct answers, -1 for incorrect answers

– Numerical Value Questions: +4 for correct answers, no negative marking

There are 300 marks for this. A little more attention must be paid to numerical sections because they consume more time for calculations while managing time for the sections.

JEE Main Paper 2 (B.Arch and B.Planning)

  • Type: Integrated (Mathematics Aptitude CBT; Paper and Pen to be used for Drawing).
  • Papers: Mathematics paper, Aptitude Test and Drawing Test (for B.Arch) or planning-based questions (for B.Planning).
  • Marks: 400
  • Duration: 3 Hours

This paper targets students of architecture and planning and seeks to test both technical capability and innovative skills.

Changes for JEE Main 2025

The NTA has altered the pattern of the JEE exam 2025's three papers, namely Paper 1 (BE/BTech), Paper 2A (BArch) and Paper 2B (BPlan).According to this new examination scheme, in the Paper 1 JEE Main exam, optional questions will be withdrawn from Section B and will not be given in Papers 2A and 2B.Each subject will have five questions, and each candidate should attempt all five. The same goes for Papers 2A and 2B; there won't be optional questions in Mathematics. Every update pertaining to the 2025 JEE Main exam pattern released by NTA could be checked on their website- Changes in syllabus: Should the syllabus change every year? Note that one shall find updated syllabus documents online on the NTA site so that none can miss the topics that the syllabus has to address.

Date and Time of Examination: The JEE Main has two different dates in January and April, which eminently predispose the student for two attempts, thus easing the pressure and getting an opportunity for marks.

More Calculation-Based Questions: With many numerical questions, these may be rather calculation-based, particularly for the tests in Physics and Maths.

Pattern-Always look for any change in the pattern or policies that come from the NTA, concerning 2025.

3. Simple Tips for JEE Main 2025 Preparation

Preparation must be highly effective as this is an extremely competitive examination. A few of the best tips are given below.

Pattern: First, a student knows the type and nature of questions they will be exposed to and thus practices well with question papers from previous years.

Calculus, Mechanics, Electrostatics, and Organic Chemistry will be a good number of questions and should feature prominently in most preparatory work.

Take timed mock test examinations: This will put a student under the kind of pressure he/she will be experiencing during an examination; speed and accuracy will come under scrutiny  .Much importance is conferred upon numericals, and so should a student practice numerical calculations in Mathematics and Physics.

Revisions: Clear core concepts, formulae, problem-solving techniques. Incorporate time for revisions in your study schedule.

Time Management: Then arm yourself with some time management skills, which will enable you to spend an adequate amount of time on numerals questions without any time constraint.
